I finished the first draft a long time ago, and put it away to let simmer while I worked on other things. I figured it was ripe enough to pluck and edit furiously.
This is generally how I write my stories: I write a rough draft, let it sit for a month, then I go back to it and completely rewrite it from top to bottom. I do this simply by printing out the first draft, deleting the file, and using the transcript I start a new document and just start typing, using the rough draft as a guide.
This second draft is my working draft, the one that will be edited. I print this one out and go to it with a red pen or marker with a furious vengeance, cutting and editing and correcting the hell out of it. Then using this transcript, I reopen the second draft document and implement my changes.
This makes it my third draft, which I call my peer review draft. These are the ones I post on FictionPress and Deviant Art, in hopes of getting feedback. Using this feedback I will go back and make changes to create the Final Draft.
So, to summarize I:
1 - Write a rough draft from beginning to end.
2 - Put it away and work on other things for a little while.
3 - Find it again, print it out, and completely rewrite top down.
4 - Print out this new draft and edit it with a red marker furiously.
5 - Use the printed and marked transcript to make changes to the newest document.
6 - Put the changed document onto FictionPress and DeviantArt (and let friends read it) to get feedback.
7 - Use this feedback to create the final draft.
So it goes through four drafts: the rough draft, the working draft, the peer review draft, and the final draft.
Anyway, just thought I'd give you a look into how I write my stories.

"But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies..."
